연남동 툭툭 누들타이 (Tuk Tuk Noodle Thai)

Tuk Tuk Noodle Thai is one of the hottest restaurants in Seoul today.  It is located in 연남동 (Yeonnam-dong) which is near Hongdae and actually home to a lot of popular restaurants, especially those of Chinese and Thai cuisine.

We took the side entrance but the main entrance isn't fancy either.  Tuk Tuk is Thai for a three-wheeled cabin cycle for private use or as a vehicle for hire (taxi).

They don't take same-day reservations so we came early, around 5pm, and luckily got seated right now.

Good selection of food.

You can always tell a good restaurant just from the beer glass.  Served nice and cold.

Chang Beer from Thailand.

모 찍니?

Fish Sauce, Spicy Vinegar, and Chili Pepper.

Appetizer: 텃만꿍 (Tord Man Kung: Thai Prawn & Pork Croquette)

Good!! To my surprise, it was really fluffy.  I expected more of a crab cake texture.

No more than 20 minutes after our arrival, there was a line out the door.

뿌님 팟퐁가리 (Poo Nim Padpong Karee: Soft Shell Crab Yellow Curry)

Soft Shell Crab covered in Yellow Curry.  It was a bit sweet to my taste buds but Christine really enjoyed it.

To kill the sweetness, I smothered on some chili pepper and fish sauce.

Refill on the cabbage.

Thai Ice Tea

House Draft for only 3,500 won.  Great deal.

팟씨유 (Pad See Ew: Thai Noodle with Oyster Sauce)

Went with this instead of Pad Thai because that Yellow Curry was too sweet.  Needed something salty.

Ordered too much and had to take the Pad See Ew home haha.  Great meal nonetheless.

I could tell that Tuk Tuk is one of the most authentic Thai restaurants in Korea.  They have an open kitchen and I noticed that all the chefs/cooks were of Thai descent (or they at least appeared that way).  Will have to come back and try some of the other things on the menu such as the Tom Yang Kung.
