Hi folks. It's been awhile. Been way too busy lately and I've been slacking on my posts. I have about 10 restaurants to blog about and I'll get to it soon.. hopefully.
We drove down to Bundang (south of Seoul) to check out this popular Korean BBQ restaurant that is famous for their 껍질 (pork skin) and 쪽갈비 (rib meat). We got here around 7pm and the place was packed! Had to wait about 30 minutes to get our table.
The restaurant is kind of in the middle of nowhere so parking was very convenient.
Alright, finally got our table. Let's check out the menu. Far left is the meat selection, from top to bottom: Pork Belly, Pork Shoulder, Marinated Pork Spare Rib, Pork Jowl, and Pork Rib Meat. Pig Skin is available only on Tuesday and Friday.
We really wanted to try the Pork Skin but it was sold out. Sadness...
This is a picture of the Pig Skin from this restaurant. It's really thick compared to the other restaurants as they leave on a pretty good layer of meat with the skin. The server told us that we'd have to come really early on Tuesday/Friday to order this.
Setting. Nothing fancy.
1 serving of Pork Rib Meat and 1 serving of Pork Belly.
Basically your slab of ribs minus the bone and seasoning.
Good proportion of fat to lean meat.
Disco?

Start off with the Pork Belly.
Both included with the meal.
젓갈 (Hmm... I guess Fermented Seafood?) This is used as a dipping sauce for the Pork Belly. The sauce is favored by Koreans to neutralize the greasiness of the pork belly.
Different grill for the Rib Meat.
Rib marinade, Korean style.
Didn't know pork could be so tender. This and the pork skin is their most popular cut.
볶음밥 (Fried Rice). Not cheap at 5,000 won.
Burp.
The meat is pretty pricey but well worth the cost. Will have to come back to try the pork skin sometime!
