Hongdae Branch
Jaws Ddukbboki, or referred to as "Jaws Food" in English, is a popular ddukbboki (spicy rice cake) restaurant in Korea. What initially started out in 2007 inside a 30 square meter store in front of Korea University has grown to be one of the most successful franchises in Korea with over 150 stores.
They only sell four things here: 튀김 (Tempura or Fried Items), 순대 (Blood Sausage), 떡볶이 (Spicy Rice Cake) and 어묵 (Fish Cake). Every rice cake is supposedly made fresh at 3:30am and delivered to each branch on a daily basis. Any rice cake that isn't used by day's end is thrown out. Hard to believe but that's their story.
Yum. Pretty impressive at 500 won (50 cents) per piece.
So... we watched them make the ddukbboki and the guy must have thrown in about a cup of MSG.
Fried Shrimp, Fried Sweet Pumpkin, and Fried 김말이 (Rice Noodles Wrapped in Seaweed)
Fish Cake Soup that comes with any order.
Pig Blood Sausage. We asked them to throw on some Ddukbboki sauce.
Pig Liver. Doesn't look very appetizing but so good.
So much unsanitary street food out there but nice to see a restaurant that takes some pride in its food even at this price.
