서래마을 스시고 (Seorae Maeul Sushi Go)

The number of sushi restaurants in Seoul has exponentially grown in the past 3-4 years.  Typically, it's not a very affordable meal if you want to get the quality sushi, with prices going as high as 200,000 to 300,000 won for the omakase (course meal).  Lately however, there have been  a number of sushi restaurants offering quality sushi at amazing prices, with Sushi Go in Seorae Maeul being one of them.  Their lunch omakase at 35,000 won is one of the cheapest deals you can find in Seoul without having to sacrifice quality.  Christine and I took Christine's parents for lunch in celebration of Parent's Day (Korea celebrates Parent's Day vs a separate Father's Day and Mother's Day).

Drove right by it.  Didn't realize it was this small.

Reservations are a must on weekends.  Two time slots: 12pm and 1:30pm.

Lovely ladies.

There are 14 seats at the bar and 2 tables.  Gotta sit at the sushi bar.

Welcome Dish

Thinly Sliced Brisket in Teriyaki Sauce

Sushi Go, like many other sushi restaurants, doesn't serve Korean Soju.  Such a shame.  So went with Japanese Sochu - Bizan Clear.

Showing off my bartender skills.

A bottle of Suntory for the ladies.

Gari (Pickled Ginger) and Bettrazuke (Pickled Daikon)

Wow.  Didn't expect this kind of sashimi with a 35,000 won omakase.

Akami.  Amazing color on that fish.

Alright.  Time for the sushi.

I always ask for the end piece.

Very little rice.  The way it should be.

Udon with thin Korean noodles.

Like most sushi restaurants, the chef always asks if you had a good meal and if you need anything else.  The family sitting next to us said no which I found to be interesting because I always say yes and have no shame asking for another piece of uni or toro (the most expensive pieces).  The toro was especially fresh so I asked for another piece of negitoro and Christine and her parents asked for chutoro.

Assumed it was Green Tea Ice Cream but it was 쑥 (Asteraceae Leave) Ice Cream.  Pretty tasty.

By far one of the best sushi deals around.  I can see why they're always booked for lunch.  Their dinner course omakase is priced at 77,000 won which is still a good deal but can't beat their lunch at 35,000 won for a plate of sahimi, 11 pieces of sushi and several appetizer dishes.

Cheers.
