(W Seoul Kitchen's Bubbly Sunday)

Sundays are typically reserved as a lazy, stay at home type of day at the Kim household.  As a matter of fact, there were more than a handful of Sundays where we didn't take one step outside the house.  But once in a while, you just want to get out of the house and enjoy a relaxing brunch with either a glass of Bloody Mary (one of my favorites!) or champagne.  Alcohol just makes everything fun, doesn't it? (Well, except driving)

Kitchen is W Seoul's Western cuisine restaurant serving "wood-fired and home-style dishes with a multitude of world influences."  Their menu doesn't really stand out from other fancy Western cuisine restaurants but what does stand out is their weekly Sunday Bubbly Brunch.

On their Korean website, there is no mention of the Dom Perignon option so I'm not sure if that's accurate but KRW150,000 (about USD 141) gives you an opportunity at an unforgettable brunch... or forgettable if you drink as much Veuve Clicqout champagne as we did.

The KRW150,000 is a hefty price tag but my "W Replenish" membership provides a 50% discount on dining at W Seoul's Namu and Kitchen.  This discount is limited to a party of 2 and the discount goes down to 33% for a party of 3-9.  I'll have to write about the "W Replenish" membership because it's an amazing deal if you use it wisely.

There are plenty of tables at Kitchen but you need to make your reservation well in advance to get a table with the river view.  I suggest two weeks in advance because I've tried a number of times to get a table like this in the same week and it wasn't available.

I haven't reached that blogger status where I am confident (or rather shameless) enough to take a picture of every dish in the buffet line so here's just a sneak peak.

Jamon Iberico.
Alright.  Free flowing Veuve and all you can eat Jamon pretty much justifies the price tag!

The Grill Selection

Another cool part about the brunch.  They have different types of meat and seafood vacuum-packed for selection.  It's immediately thrown on the grill for cooking and served to your table.  At its busiest, it can take well up to 30 minutes to get your grilled items so you need to start your meal here.

Start off with some greens while I wait for the meat to be grilled.

Here comes the champagne.  Red and white wine are also available.  I saw a group of older gentlemen enjoying all three at the same time.  We decided to stick just to champagne.

Cheers.

Just when you think there's plenty of food to be consumed, there's more.  The "Pass Around Menu" is served to your table throughout the meal.

The items on this menu are by selection.  Just tell your server which you'd like and they'll bring it to your table.

Here's the "Pass Around Menu in order:

단호박-녹두 스프 + 새우 튀김 & 요거트 인퓨전
Veloute' of Sweet Pumpkin & Mung Beans + Shrimp Tempura & Yogurt Infusion

Unfortunately, pretty bland.

Cherry Wood Smoked Salmon + Quinoa Salad & Prosciutto & Saffron vin Blanc

This was pretty tasty.

Beef Cheek Cannelloni + Gorgonzola Be'chamel & Pistachio

I'm quite certain we killed that Magnum (1.5L).

Here comes the meat we selected.

Duck Breast

Asked for medium.  Slightly overcooked.

Scallops

Ribeye, Medium Rare

Lamb Chops

The meat is served pretty bland so you can season it with salt and pepper and also ask for some sauces to accompany it.

More items from the buffet line.

Champagne was getting a bit dry to the tastebud so made some refreshing Mimosas.

We were pretty stuffed by this point but we had to try some of the other things on the menu.

Traditional Buttermilk Pancakes with Cinnamon, Apples and Pecans.
Maybe we expected too much.  A bit dry and not very tasty.

Linguine Pasta with Little Neck Clams, Garlic, and Olive Oil
This was very good.  They sure know how to cook their pasta to a perfect al dente.

Champong with Spicy Seafood
Very refreshing broth.

Got my second wind.  Last plate of grilled meat.

By this point, I was uncomfortably full and pretty buzzed as well.  I didn't taste one thing from the dessert table.  I just couldn't put anything more into my stomach.

Definitely want to try the chocolate fondue next time.

Coffee is served at the end of the meal and you can also get it to-go which just reflects the impeccable service you receive at any W establishment.

After this marathon meal, we went to the front desk to check into our room.  The young lady at the front desk asked if we enjoyed our meal at Kitchen, surely knowing that we just consumed a ridiculous amount of champagne from our alcohol reeking breathe lol.  We all got a good laugh about it.

I had a free night voucher from my W Replenish membership that I had to use by the end of the month.  The difficult thing about the voucher is that it can only be used on a weekday.  They consider Sunday night as a weekday stay so we checked in on Sunday and went straight to work the next morning.  A bit unfortunate to use it this way but oh well.

Needless to say, we needed a nap after that ginormous meal!
