청담동 원스인어블루문 (Cheongdam-dong Once In A Blue Moon)

Jazz in Seoul has come a long way.  You'd typically find jazz playing in upscale hotels or bars in Cheondam-dong but a recent frenzy of concerts and festivals have made jazz more available in a casual setting.  Once In A Blue Moon is one of the original jazz clubs in Seoul.  I don't know exactly how old this place is but I remember passing by it all the time when I went to "Rodeo Drive" in Apgujeong.  It's that place that's right across from the Rodeo entrance.  It's still a very popular venue for sogehtings (blind dates) and anniversaries. 

There are three stories at Blue Moon and I made reservations for the second floor.  You get the action right in front of you on the first floor but it's also very loud with the music right there.  Might be ideal for a blind date in order to break the ice and the awkward silence.

You can typically order off the appetizer menu or even just enjoy a glass of cocktail/wine but we came here on Christmas Day and had to order one of the two course offerings.  We both went with Course B.

Christine still is a baby when it comes to wine and only drinks Moscato d'Asti.  Or other sweet wine.

 Today's Soup:  Mushroom Soup.  This was pretty good.

Live concert begins at 7:30pm.

They ran out of lasagne so they served Spaghetti with Shrimp in Tomato Sauce.

Grilled Ribeye Steak

Medium.  Nicely cooked.

The food was just average but I guess you pay for the atmosphere.  I was actually just glad to find a place to have Christmas Day dinner.  One thing I find extremely strange in Korea is the fact that Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are the most popular date night in Korea.  I'm so used to staying home and spending Christmas Eve and Day with family I still forget to make reservations for dinner weeks or even at months in advance for Christmas Eve.  I personally think Korea needs to change its culture on Christmas but I guess they reserve Chusok and Lunar New Year for the big family events.

Anyway, if you are looking for a great venue for a date night, I'd recommend Once In A Blue Moon.
