Several years ago, Taco Bell was your restaurant of choice for Mexican food in Korea. Not because it has great good (well.. I like Taco Bell from time to time) but because there really wasn't any other choice. But the Mexican cuisine industry in Korea has grown by leaps and bounds in the past couple years with restaurants such as Grill5Taco, Julio, Dos Tacos, Don Charley, On the Border and most notably Vatos Tacos. The word on the street is that Don Charley in Itaewon is the most authentic of them all so I will have to check Don Charley out in the near future. Today, Christine and I dined at Dos Tacos in Jamsil.
Dos Tacos is a Mexican chain restaurant with 16 locations throughout Korea. Not that anyone needs the translation but Dos Tacos literally means Two Tacos in Spanish. I'm not exactly sure if there is any meaning behind the name.
Some places are real stingy with the sauce (even charge additional for extra sauce) so it was nice to see this.
Menu goes on but I got lazy...
Nacho Fiesta
Pretty fresh ingredients.
Order of extra guacamole.
Beef Soft Taco
Shrimp & Rice Burrito
This was really good. Highly recommend the Shrimp & Rice Burrito.
Dos Tacos' menu is pretty simple and traditional unlike the unique selection you would find at Vatos or Grill5Taco with their Kimchee Fries and Kimchee Quesadilla. But I thought the portions to price ratio was really good at Dos Tacos unlike some of these other Mexican restaurants. Will have to check out Don Charley soon. So many places to try....
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Tomatillo - another Mexican chain restaurant in Seoul. This is the one behind Lotte World. Would be nice to sit out on a nice day with some beer and Mexican food. Unfortunately, this branch is so... empty.
